Summary For a variety of reasons, Moniker is the top domain registrar for professional domainers. Foremost, Moniker offers the best support of any of the major registrars; it is toll-free, available 24/7 and Moniker's technicians are extremely knowledgeable and friendly. Whenever we have had any sort of difficulty or concern with Moniker's services, our account representative has dealt with the issue promptly and professionally. Moreover, Moniker has best-in-class domain security tools (complete with powerful locking features and email/phone alerts, if any account activity deemed suspicious occurs). We have had some experience with crooks who have tried to hijack our domains, and we believe that this is an extremely important characteristic to consider when choosign a registrar, if you own high quality domains (many domainers underestimate the importance of domain security until they get burnt!). Finally, Moniker offers topflight bulk domain name management tools, which make it a snap to change name servers and so forth across a large portfolio. Bottom line: If you are new to domaining, own a portfolio of low quality domains or like/need to have free domain forwarding, then Moniker is probably the wrong registrar for you, because you can save a few dollars per domain registering your domains at other cheaper registrars. However, if you have high quality domains that you already are earning significant revenue streams from or hope to sell for a significant profit one day, then you should register these domains through Moniker to take advantage of topflight security and support. Services Moniker registers domain names directly across the generic top level domains (TLDs): .com, .net, .org, .info and .biz, as well as country code TLDs, such as .us, co.uk and .cn. Moniker will soon offer more than 200 country code extensions along with many of the newly approved TLDs due to launch over the next 24 months, including .asia. Moniker does not have the best price for any particular TLD; however, its prices are decent, and if you join the discount domain program, then they are very low. Moniker also occasionally offers sale discounts for particular TLDs (e.g., .net, as of this writing). Moniker offers a quick and user-friendly domain registration process as well as responsive and reliable customer support. Customer Support Monikers domain registration and management services are exceptional, but that is not the primary reason why we register our higher quality domains with this registrar, it is Moniker's people. From Monte Cahn down, they are quality individuals that have addressed every single issue that we have had with their service. Room for Improvement (1) If Moniker had lower prices, it would be without question, GameTLD's top reviewed registrar. For the average person, we think that GoDaddy and Netfirms are probably a better choice due to their lower prices and addional free services, including free domain name forwarding, as well as free WHOIS privacy and e-mailboxes, in Netfirms case. (2) Moniker should offer free domain name forwarding, which is an important feature to many domain industry professionals have found that they can often better monetize certain domains by pointing them to their own custom landing pages, as opposed to utilizing a third-party parking service. |
