Gaming Domain Name Sales in September: $47,039
06, October 2007
In September, the gaming domain market slowed down dramatically, as domainers took a breather during the summer doldrums. There were no five or six figure reported gaming domain sales.
Of all of the major domain resellers, Sedo remained the strongest, although it too had an uncharacteristically slow month. It sold six of the fourteen reported domain sales, including PlayStreet.com for $5,500, Slot.net for $5,500, Casino.ec for $5,396, iGame.co.uk for $4,025, JuegoGratis.tv ("free game" in Spanish) for $1,388 and Poker.ec for $1,300. Note: .ec is the country code for Ecuador.
The AfternicDLS platform had the second most sales including MathGames.net for $2,488, Boldog.com (typo for Bodog.com) for $2,000, ChessGames.net for $1,888 and PlayBingo.org for $1,488.
SnapNames sold three domains: MotorcycleGames.com for $6,000 (the chart leader in this slow month!), KonamiJPN.com for $2,816 (Konami is the publisher of Contra, Castlevania and Dance Dance Revolution!) and FantasyFootballTools.com for $2,750.
Finally, HuntingMoon.com chipped in the sale of XRank.com for $4,500.
Hopefully, the domain industry will come back from its summer vacation soon, and things will get more exciting again in October!

Steal of the Month: Slot.net for $5,500. This is an extremely marketable domain at a very reasonable price. Bingo.net, a similar property in many respects, was purchased for $56,500 through Sedo in 2006 (on the flip side, Spades.net was purchased for $5,000 earlier this year).
Dog of the Month: Casino.ec for $5,396. There are 243 different primary country codes, and many of these country codes have a couple different variations (e.g., .in, .co.in, and ,org.in for India). Because of the surplus of country codes, there are a variety of extensions that have virtually no commercial value, whatever the domain property. .ec is the country code for Ecuador, a country of 13M (Spanish-speaking!) citizens with broadband penetration of just under 15%. Buy .com, .de, .net, .org, .eu, .info, .co.uk, .cn, .in, and the new .asia TLD (when it comes out)-- leave the rest alone!
